I He{art} Art

I just wanted to take a minute of your Fridays and say THANK YOU to all who left me such genuine, heartfelt comments about me doing what I do--teaching art and being good at it.

T H A N K   Y O U !

I truly, 100%, without a doubt, LOVE my job. I can't even fathom doing anything else, and I will be sad if the economy doesn't in fact get better, but worsen, because that will hurt the good folk known as teachers. (cuts cuts cuts) Art and Music always go first when it comes to budget constraints.

I don't talk much about my "job" on here just simply because the web isn't a great place to do that (for obvious reasons) but I am really humbled that blog followers that don't even know me or my ability have given me such praise. Means a lot.

Hey they don't pick bad teachers for teacher of the year now do they?

I don't think I blogged much about that either. Back in 2009-2010 I was nominated for Teacher of the Year in Yuma County. Out of 300 + nominees I made it to the top 15 and then narrowed down as one of three nominees for "special area" teachers. It was super nerve racking! I was up against another fellow teacher who had taught art the previous year, but jumped over to PE that year! The other contestant was a reading specialist beat us both (She had won our division category THREE other times in her teaching career!)

Regardless it was a very humbling experience and really made me sad when I left as seeing how much my peers, co workers, faculty staff said I had "enriched" their lives through such gorgeous art!

Can you believe I only took ONE picture the whole night? This was before I had a nice camera in my cell and such :)

So again, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I promise I will continue to educate the youth of america, giving a 100% It's what I was born to do! :)

2nd Grade Giraffes--almost done!

1st grade Elmer --complete!

  1. I, of all people, know how important your job is...to the way a school functions, to the happiness of kids, and to the enrichment of their overall learning. I'm a "related service" person at my school (the school speech therapist) and I know how the side areas can get the shaft in so many different ways. Judging by the work you show on your blog, you're a great teacher and your kids obviously work hard for you, which is awesome! :)

  2. I cant handle how gorgeous you are! lol Seriously though! You have definitely been blessed with being an awesome art teacher! Keep up the hard work!! :]

  3. I really love reading about how you LOVE your job. I think I would have been an awesome teacher and sometimes I am sad I didn't go into that field.

  4. teacher of the year!!! so excited for you...that is a HUGE accomplishment and i love seeing what projects your kids are always up to--congrats lady!! ;)

If I could draw I would love to be an art teacher

  8. That is so amazing!! Keep being the wonderful teacher you are. I looove seeing all the cute art work your kid's make!

  9. Simply amazing. Wow. Seriously, I have no idea how you do it but you kick major ass {pardon me} at your job. You motivate me to be a better teacher and that is a fact.

And nominated for teacher of the year, for real?! You are AMAZING. Truly.
