Day 4, Saturday: Favorite quote (from a person, from a book, etc) and why you love it

I'd have to say that this quote hits home for me the most.

When I first heard it in the movie theater seeing this movie, I remember reaching in my purse to write it down fast so I wouldn't for get it.

I couldn't help but feel this quote was my reminder as to why God chose my mother to leave this earth so early and to leave my brother and I so young.

Things that make you uncomfortable

Day 3, Friday: Things that make you uncomfortable

Insects, Rodents, reptiles.

Bees, Spiders, rats, and snakes to be exact. They freak me out!

Self absorbed people.

The people in this world who can't take two seconds of their day to reply to an email or text baffle me. We all get bathroom breaks and lunch breaks, I mean how hard is it to type or text a line saying hey I'm good just busy ya know?

That's all I can think of! :)

What are you good at?

Day 2, Thursday: Educate us on something you know alot about or are good at. Take any approach you'd like (serious and educational or funny and sarcastic)

I am really good at hurting myself. No seriously. LOL I get cuts on my hands daily from opening construction paper packets for my students. This past weekend I cut my toe on a rock getting into a friend's pool.
I guess you could call me a klutz!

haha

I am good at my job, which is teaching art. I think my proof shows in my kids artwork, as well as being nominated for teacher of the year in 2010 and employee of the month this past February!

Aside from work, I'd like to think I am a pretty gosh darn good fur momma to my pup.
Last Week in July in San Diego 013

I grew up with a dog, showed her in a few shows, and just have become pretty knowledgable about dogs in general. :)

Don't forget to linkup with Jenni!

Blog Every Day in May Day 1!

Day 1, Wednesday: The story of your life in 250 words or less (or one paragraph... no one will be counting your words... probably)

I am so excited to be participating in Jenni's link up of blogging a topic a day in May :)

I've been so burnt out on blogging simply because over the last 4 or so years of blogging I've run out of things to say and share!

My life story. Hmmm…
How does one even right their life story in 250 words or less? I think the best approach is to write something like it’s your obituary? Haha. Let’s see…

Born in 1982. This makes me an 80s child.

large_1982 on this day dvd

I was the first born of my family, and am the oldest of two kids.  Born in Memphis, TN but grew up in the suburbs of Illinois.

lived

As a child, I was an active girl scout, as well as piano player and horseback rider.

Dropped out of the music and horse circuit and got active in soccer grades 6th-11th grade. Lost my best friend, my mom, to cancer in 1995. She was only 39 years old. I hate saying or thinking I was “different” growing up than most kids but death does change a child more than you can imagine. I spent a good 2 years helping raise my brother while my dad was at work. I was a good sibling to him at this point, making him a lunch, walking him to school, helping get his bath ready. My brother and I are 5 years apart.  Graduated HS in 2000, and was extremely eager to be starting a new chapter in my life, COLLEGE!  Attended college in Ohio. Got my BFA at BGSU in 2004. Upon graduating, got a job out of state, and moved to Arizona, where I have resided for the past 8 years. Was married last summer in 2012 in Hawaii.

Owner of the most adorable Pomeranian named Aspen who is seven years old now!

That’s pretty much my life story in a nut shell. What’s your story?

PS-Jenni if you are reading this, My word count was at 274! :) haha

Sunday Social!

Sunday Social

1. What is one movie you are terrified to watch?

When I was a little girl, my dad for whatever reason decided to watch a scary movie while I was still awake. The movie was called "The Hand" starring Michael Caine. Of course I happen to walk by the TV when the most scary murderous parts are taking place on the television.

I had nightmares for WEEKS. I'd wake up screaming and crying afraid to walk on the floor in the dark because "the hand is going to get me mommy!"

Let's just say every time I woke up my dad had middle of the night duty to try and soothe me. So have I seen the movie as an adult? Heck no! It's the only film that has ever given me nightmares!

File:The_Hand_Poster
For anyone that wants to know what the movie is about, in a nutshell, Michael Caine plays Jon Lansdale, a comic book artist who loses his hand, which in turn takes on a murderous life of its own.

I'd say Jaws is a close second to being a scary movie that really scared me as a kid, of course as an adult I can watch it with no problem. You can read more about the post I did on Jaws HERE

2. What is one TV show you have always wanted to get into but haven’t yet?

I don't know if there are any I've wanted to get into, but I know we (the husband and I) tried to get into watching Dexter and just could not. After 3 episodes it just didn't take to us so to speak.

3. What is one daring activity on your bucket list?

I don't know if I'd call it daring, but considering I've never left the country, hubs and I want to go to New Zealand oh so badly!

This photo was taken by Amanda Marshall one of my blog crushes Marshalls Abroad.

4. Would you ever travel alone?
If it's in the USA of course. No big deal, I've done it before. Out of the USA, not a chance!

5. What activities do you like to do alone?
Read. It's really hard for me to read in public places I get distracted easily!

Facts of Me

Decided at the last minute (only because I live under a rock at times and didn't know about the link up) to link up with Whitney's I wore Yoga Pants to Work!

Here we go...

Facts of Me

This gets harder and harder the longer you've been a blogger. I feel like I've said random things about me that people already know since I've been blogging since 2009 that's like a super long time in blog world!

I am the biggest cookie monster ever.

This means you offer me a cookie, I will not refuse it.

Better give me 2 just to get me and my hungry paws off your cookies lol.

I kinda think my nose is long from the side, what do you think?

I am a natural blonde. GASP! People always LOVE to question this fact about me. I like to just smile and then silently curse at them under my breath. I guess that's the world's fault with so many falsies wannabe blondes running around in this world! Hard to tell the fakes from the real ones!

I do NOT have a thing for stuffed animals.

No really I swear! LOL This animal I had to take home and snap pictures of for my students little journal they take home documenting this animal's overnight stay at their house.
Yours truly had to go "first" to take home the critter.
Hey anything to promote students writing at home!

This little fur ball is Aspen. She is my WORLD. And I don't care what anyone says, if I ever have human kids, this dog is still #1 and I won't let her be put on the back burner. Not now, not ever. I was NOT raised like that, and I say if you feel like you can't handle both a kid and a dog, then you need to cut other things out of your life to fit it all in! :)

I often say "GOOD GRIEF CHARLIE BROWN" to my students and they think I'm nuts. I am sad when they don't know of the Peanuts gang.

And there's a few fun tid bits for ya friends!
