Under GOD

Move over cutesy fluffy all sunshine and rainbow posts...

Today I am writing a wee bit more serious one. Which some will skim over. I mean who wants to read anything that might be a debbie downer? Um, when it has to do with world news, and something our very country is founded on, I DO.

In their broadcast of the US Open Golf Tournament yesterday, NBC removed the phrase "under God" from a
reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.

I'm sorry, but I believe that this was no accident and I think the network  is to "fully explain" their motivation in removing the phrase. An apology by NBC saying they "are sorry if anyone was offended" does not go far enough in addressing this troubling and deliberate rewriting of history and the removal of the mention of God from the public square.

Its a sad day when i see American children saying the pledge without God. This was no accident. This was done because this country is turning into a GODLESS, MORALESS devil's workshop. It is because of God that we are the greatest country in the world. God will not be mocked. "our" united states of america is "one nation, under god"! if you do not like that, then please feel free to pack your bags and leave "our" country ! This is what happens when you become to diverse.

As an educator, I have had to say the pledge every single day for the last SEVEN years of my life since my days in HS when it was required to be said. I've gone to both Private Catholic Schooling, and Public, and both with religion and without it, you STILL say the Pledge with those words in it!!!

President Eisenhower wrote the "under god" in effect in 1954. So until the day Obummer I mean Obama decides to undo this, UNDER GOD shall remain!!! You don't disobey the law just because you feel like it! I mean come on! Disappointed in a lot of people....American people.

Indivisible is also invisible.
A recession is when your neighbor loses his job. A depression is when you lose your job. A recovery is when Obama loses his job.

Happy Fathers Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, but especially my daddy, or mommy calls you, her mister wonderful :)

Daddy,
mommy says she would of stamped my paws on paper to make it more authentic of me signing this here paper, but mommy says she left her washable ink pads at school in her new classroom. Ruh row....

Thanks for being a good daddy to me. You let me lick strange places that most people don't like ie your nose and your toes.

You take me for walks on my pretty pink leash, even though you are all big and manly, and me so fluff and puffy.

Mommy says she knows you'll be a great daddy some day to future brother and sisters of mine, even though they won't be fur babies like me. I'll always be your one and only!

I Ruff You!

Reading = Happiness!

I have been on a reading frenzy now that school has ended (even though I am still teaching summer school)

It's amazing how YOUNG I feel again ( I read books like a crazy person as a young girl) I always had my nose in a book.

I just finished these two
Jane Eyre

I LOVED reading Jane Eyre. LOVED IT! What a terrific love story!

I was talking/tweeting with a few peeps about how I have recently decided to read some of what's considered Classic Literature. In HS, most of these are required readings. I distinctly remember having to read:

  • Romeo & Juliet (Shakespeare)

  • The Outsiders (SE Hinton)

  • To Kill A Mockingbird (Harper Lee)

  • Fahrenheit 451 (Ray Bradbury)

  • Of Mice And Men(john steinbeck)

  • O'Pioneers by (Willa Cather)

In HS, I HATED these as my summer required reading. I think some of these novels are really difficult to understand without those lovely things known as Cliff Notes to help hold your hand along the way! Some of these books are written so above how people "speak" today so it's no wonder as a teen why I got so lost in the verbatim.

To this day, The Outsiders & To Kill A Mockingbird are some of my all time fave classic novels. I have even joked having a kid and naming him/her Scout in honor of Harper Lee's novel! :)

I don't remember anything about Of Mice and Men AT ALL. I think I "didn't really read" this one.
Fahrenheit was definitely one of those books I got lost in and had no idea what the heck was going on.
O'Pioneers was decent, I remember some bits of sexual content in that book, nothing crazy just sticks out in my mind.

I am currently reading this

At first glance, when I saw the movie trailer I thought, gee that have a movie like this-- it's called SAME TIME NEXT YEAR starring that guy from MASH!

But As I read the back of the book, it sounds like they are not really all that alike after all.

The goal is to finish it before it comes out to the theater! :)

What "Classics" have you read that you would recommend?

Plates Anyone?

I have become fascinated with this whole concept of finding vintage/antique plates and then making them a display on a wall somewhere in your home.

My question is, how many of you can tell me how do you even hang a plate on a wall? Do share!

Meet N Greet

The lovely Michelle over at a little bit of this and that had a great idea!!!!!!! A blog meet and greet!

So without further adieu, here is some INFO for all you new Followers of mine!

Hello Bloggers! New & Old!  I'm C Mae. the gal behind this lil ole blog!

This is me.

In case you didn't notice, or figure out.....
I am a teacher. An Elementary Art Teacher. I love my job. I have said time and time again on here, that I am very lucky to wake up every day and actually not loathe going to work, as so many hate their jobs and simply stay because they need the money.

I take pictures, when I'm not teaching. It was my area of concentration in 2-D Art.

I studied film photography in school, and am slowly re teaching re learning digital photography.

I am  a HUGE CHICAGOIAN at heart. That was my childhood home.

Yet I am also an Ohioan too. Went to college in Ohio, and every relative on my fathers side still lives there.

Ah Lovely BGSU. Tis where Mister Wonderful also went to college!
But we did not meet and or even know each other the whole time we attended!

The other love of my life, who is a huge part of this blog, is my fur baby, Aspen

For those that have followed me for over a year, know I am a HUGE animal lover, and I actually know a lot about dogs. I once showed my childhood dog, in dog shows!

I usually host Tail Wagging Tuesday, in her honor, but have recently taken a break from it. (just for a little while)

  • I have been blogging for over 2 years now. I started this blog originally only about Art, and my student's artwork. I felt that was really limiting so I started to blog about other things. Must admit I hardly got any comments and or followers in the first year, but luckily I got the hang of it!

So let's see...What else...

Dear Dear Diary

"your handwriting. the way you walk. which china pattern you choose. it's all giving you away. everything you do shows your hand. everything is a self portrait. everything is a diary."

Does Size Matter?

Not "that" size ya sickos who were thinking dirrrrty!

How about size of a Diamond?

How big is TOO big?

Hmmmm...Recently there was the unveiling of Kim Kardashian's engagement ring.

You think that's a lot of carats? Let's take a quick trip down memory lane to the current but recently diseased record holder of the largest engagement ring.......

Elizabeth Taylor

The Taylor-Burton is a diamond made famous when purchased by actor Richard Burton for his wife Elizabeth Taylor in 1969, receiving worldwide publicity for its size and value. The original rough diamond was found in 1966 in the Premier Mine in South Africa, weighing 241 carats (48 g). It was cut by Harry Winston to 69.42 carats (13.88 g) in the shape of a pear. The diamond was originally owned by Harriet Annenberg Ames who gave the diamond away to be auctioned, because she couldn’t enjoy the diamond.

The stone was promptly named the 'Cartier'. Richard Burton (Elizabeth Taylor’s fifth husband) purchased the 69.42 carat, inch thick diamond from Cartier for $1.1 million, making it the world’s most expensive diamond at the time. Richard had a limit of one million he was prepared to spend on the ring, but after a fierce bidding war, the ring was sold to Cartier for $50,000 more than his top price. He made a deal with Cartier, who sold him the ring for $1.1 million; making a $50,000 profit on a ring they had owned for about a day. One stipulation of the purchase was that the ring would be displayed at Cartier boutiques in New York and Chicago. Burton agreed, and 10,000 people lined up each day to see the gem. When the newly renamed Taylor-Burton diamond was finally in Elizabeth’s possession, she originally wore it as a ring, but because of its mammoth size, later decided to have Cartier suspend it from a necklace.

The actual diamond appeared on the Here's Lucy episode "Lucy Meets the Burtons" in 1970. Lucy Carter (played by Lucille Ball) found the ring and got it stuck on her finger. Lucy ends up having to substitute her own hand for Miss Taylor's at a press party held to show off the ring. This was the highest rated episode of the very popular series and earned an Emmy nomination for comedy writing. Lucy, the Burtons, and the ring appeared on the cover of the September 5, 1970 issue of TV Guide.

The ring was also at the centre of a humorous exchange between Elizabeth and the late Princess Margaret of England. “Is that the famous diamond? But it’s so large—how very vulgar!” “Yes,” said Elizabeth. “Ain’t it great?” Margaret then asked to try on the huge stone. “It doesn’t look so vulgar now, does it?” remarked Elizabeth. After their divorce, Taylor auctioned the diamond in June of 1978 for $5,000,000, and donated the money to charity. It was bought by Henry Lambert, a New York-based jeweler. Its current owner is Robert Mouawad, who had the diamond recut to 68.0 carats (13.6 g) to remove minor imperfections and to restore it to its previous Flawless status.
*all info on her ring was googled.

Don't worry Ms. Taylor. Kim Kardashian ain't got nothin on you sistah!

Saturday Shopping

Today I dragged Mister Wonderful to the lovely world of the mall (after our hour and half 4 mile hike I thought hey it's well deserved!)

I have really wanted to work on adding a few more summer dresses to my wardrobe. I tried this one on, but did not come home with it.

Reason #1
I felt like some dresses make your shoulders look like you are muscular football player! to me, this was one of those dresses! I felt really huge up top and that wasn't flying with me.

Reason #2
Bend over test. I always bend over to see how "short" a dress really is. This one failed. LOL No one wants to see a rear end peek out!

I did however, come home with some great finds from the LIMITED.

Got these. Many have said to me, "Oh linen wrinkles bad."
I never really have that problem with them...

A very summery look.

I also ordered these wedges! :)

This is probably it for my "summer spending spree" since I totally goofed on my pay over the summer with my paychecks (LONG STORY) teacher stuff those who teach kinda get what I mean by that...and the whole summer pay bit...
