I've been so busy lately! On top of just turning newly 30, the fiance' and I have been scouring around touring homes for sale!
One of the reasons I have been so MIA on blogger, is just simply because there was a really big chance that Mister Wonderful and I were going to be moving to Cleveland, OH (his stomping grounds where he came from before moving out here to be with me)
To wrap up a really long story, the job went to someone else, and MW decided to stay in AZ a wee bit longer. Long enough to consider buying a home!
No more renting say what?!?!
I've been a renter my whole life. In fact, on a teaching salary, that is all one will ever be in the state of AZ if you are not married with the help of another income!
The housing market in AZ is not like the rest of the world right now. Houses are going FAST. Like they get listed online for ONE DAY and bam have a contract within 24 hours. This has been the case a few times already for us. Talk about discouraging!!!
So as if our destination wedding wasn't enough, we thought we'd add "potential home owners" to the list of things to do!
finding a home can be very stressful, but exciting too! good luck!
ReplyDeleteHow discouraging that the market there isn't the best. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteAhhh good old home ownership. Welcome my friend! The process can be so stressful but yet it can also be so amazing. All I can say is enjoy every step of the way and DO.NOT.SETTLE Make a list of things that are MUSTs and make sure you stick to it. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGood luck househunting!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on deciding to stay in AZ and become homeowners :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck finding a home! Brandon and I have been in limbo as to where we should live. We thought about buying a home, but we may only live in Charleston for a few more years, so we don't think it's worth the investment. Homes are definitely NOT going quickly in these parts! We are going to wait until we move back to Beaufort to be with our families. You get a LOT more bang for your buck there, too.
ReplyDeleteAnyway... hope you had a great birthday!
eeeep! I am excited for you to start this journey....mortgage rates are AWESOME right now!! hope you guys find the PERFECT house. And things happen for a reason, you are now in sunny AZ rather than rainy Cleveland (where my hubs is from too haha)
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the house hunt! Timmy and I have been looking for a home since before we got married, and have yet to find the perfect one. Happy to hear you're staying in Arizona! I'd like to meet you one day you know!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!! I'm sure it's super stressful but once you find (and get) the home you want, it will all be worth it!
ReplyDeleteOur housing market here in Orange County, California sounds exactly like how you describe AZ's market. Houses going under contract after just days on the market. So incredibly frustrating...we've also been waiting almost 3 months on a short sale we're under contract on.
ReplyDeleteeeek so exciting!
ReplyDeletegood luck!
being a homeowner can be stressful, but it is so worth it! :)
Best wishes for finding a wonderful home to start your life as husband and wife. Glad you are staying in AZ if that is what you wanted! :)
ReplyDeletei totally feel your pain. the market in CA officially blows. the H and i have been looking for a home for months and we experience the same thing, the day a home goes on the market it gets a contract. best of luck to you guys!
ReplyDeleteWe are in the same boat girl, we just got approved for a loan. But houses are going way too fast
ReplyDeleteLuckily for us, Seattle has dropped drastically in home prices so we don't have the pressure to buy since it's not sturdy. I love being a renter and the ability to call the owner for Mr. Fixit!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking at the Las Vegas housing market and their doing the same thing there as well. Literally people will be putting multiple bids on the same houses each day. Good luck in your search!
ReplyDeleteOhmygosh that would be discouraging! you guys will find the perfect house! So exciting to think about getting to be a homeowner. I'm with you. I'm not a teacher, but with my law loans, I would never be a homeowner if not for Eric. Thankfully, he already owned a place, but I look forward to us buying our next house together. :)
ReplyDeleteBuying a house is so exciting...but scary too! I bought a house in Baltimore right out of college because it was actually cheaper then the rent on an apt I found! But that was in 2004...and the market here hasn't quite recovered...best of luck in your house search...and then...you get to DECORATE!! :D

we HATED the house hunt!! it was SO stressful and overwhelming! we prayed a LOT and really, really took our time. we trusted God to give us a house in HIS perfect timing, and He totally exceeded our expectations. We LOVE our home!!! hang in there, be patient, and don't settle. the perfect house for you guys WILL come along!
ReplyDeletehey, p.s., I'm coming to AZ in Sept to the Biltmore! How close are you to that??
