I Believe...

I believe...

That if you see a movie before you read the book, you are cheating yourself out of a great piece of literature.

Case in point: these two books are fantastic. 

I believe that over time, people change.

The lesson learned was that some people change for the good, and some change for the bad.

I once believed that if a man or woman was married then divorced, then clearly there was something wrong with "them". 

Lesson learned: DONT BE SO JUDGMENTAL!

You just may end up with these so called "types"

I believe that as much as we all hate facebook and social media from time to time, that it does have it's "good" or happy aspects about it.

Case in point:

this comment was from someone I haven't talked to in a long while, very unexpected and yet made my day!

I believe in MANNERS! That handwriting thank you cards will always trump any text or email. 

I believe that OHIO STATE FOOTBALL is a way of life!

Even if my own college's former football coach is now the coach of the Buckeyes. Ohioians don't hate we appreciate! :) 

I believe that for all the years that I loathed God after my mother died, 

that getting my butt back to church all these years later was truly the "right" thing to do. I always walk out of church feeling like a million bucks. This makes me want Church to be 5 days a week if that's the case! LOL

I believe that even though we have the right to freedom of speech, really we don't! 

If we did, then we really could say how we feel on the internet and not worry about "offending" others or losing a job, friends etc etc...

I believe that tattoos on the body is NOT fine art! A tattoo drawn in a book on a piece of paper or painted on a stretched canvas is art.  When you teach art you tend to have strict views opinions on this subject of what is art!

I believe that even at 30, I am NEVER to old to eat a box of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese

That Pop up Video was seriously the best idea ever for music videos! 

Thankfully AMC has Story Notes for my trivia needs about movies since VH1 no longer does pop up video!

Did you know that Paul Hogan aka Mic Dundee is MARRIED to the lead actress in his hit movies? Linda Kozlowski since 1990? They have a son together, and since the Dundee movies, Linda has not acted in any movies since!

Taken 2 - International Trailer (2012) [HD]

Hopefully most of y'all bloggers have seen the first movie called "Taken."

It's one of those movies that has stuck with me. I really loved the first movie just for the simple fact that it really shows how "dangerous" traveling ALONE or even with just girl friends can be if you aren't extremely careful. Anyone who has seen the movie, you all know what I'm referring to. The simple convo in the taxi the two young girls just trying to be social and make friends turned into a pretty big nightmare. 

Anyhow, I saw this trailer for the second movie, and I'm pretty excited to see it. I haven't been to the movies IN AGES! Nothing has come out that I've wanted to see! 

Cut a girl some slack!

Seriously. SO TIRED of hearing about it. Everyone's talking about it! The News! Really ppl that is news? Even ppl in my work lunch room!

Talk about how judgmental we all of a sudden get. 

She screwed up. 

I say thank the Lord! Shows she's HUMAN and not this perfect little thing that people so easily place her up on that royal pedestal!

I think I am just saddened at how quickly people are ready to scorn her or burn her at the stake if you will, because of ONE mistake. 

Now, I have to admit, it's a pretty stupid thing to do especially if you are the Princes' wife and all. I mean I'm no royalty, and I wouldn't be caught dead sunning myself naked here there or ANYWHERE! 

I just have really been awakened to how quickly we as a society judge people because of ONE mistake or a few they make in their lives. It's sad. And not fair. Nobody's perfect. That's the whole point. You are suppose to forgive and forget. 

Getting caught on a private getaway sunning herself topless shouldn't TRUMP the countless good things she's done for others. Endless charity events, helping the homeless. The girl is kinda a modern day Mother Teresa so to speak. She didn't break one of the Ten Commandments people. Jeepers. 

Am I alone on this?

Yard Love

Aspen has never known what it's like to have "Freedom" of the leash since we have always lived in a condo or apartment. Now that we are home owners, she is learning to run around off leash and enjoy playing fetch without her leash getting in the way!

I took this video Sunday morning. Her little morning spurts of energy have been great to wear her out for the day!

The "Stuff" basket is new--via Target! It was too cute not to get to put all of her squeaker toys in!

It's been FOREVER since I've hosted a tail wagging tuesday, should I get it up and running for next week? 

Maxi Love

Have you ever wanted something but the price was way out of your price range?

Case in point:

I took a screen shot as proof! I fell in love with this maxi skirt a year ago, but being a teacher on on a teacher's salary, I knew the skirt was way out of normal wardrobe budget!

Randomly, a few night ago I was looking though all my pins and I clicked on this skirt again. It took me to shopbop.com and low and behold I couldn't believe my eyes...

The skirt was there!

This shit just doesn't happen! It had to be fate or something!

I knew I had to act fast!

I quickly snatched it up! I'm waiting for it to get here! 

Sometimes a item of clothing that you love so much can really be yours if you wait it out long enough!

Art Room Happenings: Sept Art

After 4 weeks of basic procedures, practicing cutting, gluing, writing with a pencil, my kinders finally got to paint! They have been begging me to paint since the moment they walked into the art room. Many art teachers don't even touch paint till after X mas with the little guys. 

I don't agree with that theory. 

The moment I pulled the paint out, went over all the rules, the room was SILENT! Paint has such a calming effect for them. 

More to come on what their projects turned into....

 I have started this project with my 5th graders for the last 8 years of teaching! They have to make 10 intersecting lines but none of them can overlap (go through) the center line. They had to make their names in the center line, all capital letters that had to touch from the top to the bottom. You'd be amazed at how many I had to correct because they were filling in lowercase letters or their capital letters didn't touch the top and bottom line!

 I read the story "Clever Crow" to my first graders (since we are moving into fall) and the kids loved it! It's about a crow that loves to "steal" shiny things! This was a fun lesson because the kids have so many different mediums in their art! (Painting, construction paper, crayons, a 3D nest with objects)

I showed the movie trailer ( which is a minute and 30 seconds long via youtube) of Herbie Fully Loaded. The kids had NO IDEA what they were going to make. I then began a discussion on what a VW bug was? What does VW stand for? 

They got to create their own "Herbie" and the only catch was I made them design EVERYTHING out of scrap paper. It wasn't till the very end I let some add some small details with construction paper crayons! I wish I had taken more pictures of their adorable cars! I forgot! 

These owls were a real "Hoot" with my second graders. It was their first project using "recycled" paper. I had a dictionary from the 1980s donated to me and I put the pages to good use! 

I let students look at several variations of owls and they got to pick which one they wanted to draw from the sheet (add their own "spin" on their own art work of course) 

They sharpied, then used markers to color their owls. The second time they came to art, we talked about what a "Frame" or border was. Students created 2 frames around their owls.
