For Your Viewing Pleasure

Hello blog peeps! I am ALIVE I just have been SUPER busy this week! No joke! I haven't had time to tweet, FB, or even pin anything from Pinterest! Eeek!

It's been nothing new on my home front, just lots keeping me busy with my job!:)(also been helping a fellow blogger tweak her blog a bit so that takes time too!)

4th Grade's almost completed Sun Flower Clay bowls inspired by the great Vincent VanGogh

5th Grade just got into their lesson on Cakes by the famous Wayne Thiebauld (pronounced TEE-BOW)
can't wait to share more pictures once they are all completed!

4th 5th 6th After School Art kiddos got to do some scratch art.

Gotta be real honest I am not a huge fan of scratch art.
The kids get really upset when they make mistakes and can't erase or fix their papers.

A lot of the time they have trouble conveying making their images/pictures look "real".

2nd grade just started Clown Portraits....
More to come...

Kinders finally finished coloring their 5 Tiered Birthday Cake for Dr. Suess' birthday! I love that the cake just about as tall as they are, if not taller!

My After school art kiddos just learned about Pop Art/Roy Lichtenstein

and good old onomatopoeias

More Art For your viewing pleasure

Friday was Read Across America Day and also Dr. Suess' birthday! So OF COURSE I did a cat in the hat lesson with my 1st graders and my kinders are working on big cakes for Dr. Suess too! :)

3rd grade spent LOTS of time studying pictures of fish--realistic photos and drawings of them. They had to create their own PORTHOLE (big vocab word they had to comprehend) and what their view of under the sea would look like. They were asked to have SOME overlapping in their drawings. Some got this concept right away while others struggled with it. This is really the part of the year where lessons get "harder" and I am beginning to see what they are understanding/retaining and what they are not.

In after school art, my students just wrapped up their Japan art lessons--here are some of their Kimonos!

They put my example to shame! so talented!

Fur Baby turned SIX!

My Aspen girl turned SIX today! I can hardly believe it! She hasn't "slowed" down any over the last few years which I am thankful for :) Anyhow, every year on her birthday I give her a frosty paw which she goes Bananas for :)

check out our little video of her on her birthday! :)

If you follow me on instagram, then you've probably seen some of these next few pictures.
Last weekend we took Aspen to the dog park to let her be social and sniff some butts so to speak :)

 Aspen making friends---

 Daddy making friends too! LOL

She loves her hair blowing in the breeze!

Oh Aspen girl, if only you knew how much love and happiness you bring to my life. I cannot imagine the last six years without you in it! You've been such a trooper-- moving with me 4 times over the last 6 years. You've seen my go through heart ache of my own, then heart ache when you scared me so bad with your 2,000 knee surgery when you were just six months old.

Through all our trials and tribulations I wouldn't of changed a thing!

I He{art} Art

I just wanted to take a minute of your Fridays and say THANK YOU to all who left me such genuine, heartfelt comments about me doing what I do--teaching art and being good at it.

T H A N K   Y O U !

I truly, 100%, without a doubt, LOVE my job. I can't even fathom doing anything else, and I will be sad if the economy doesn't in fact get better, but worsen, because that will hurt the good folk known as teachers. (cuts cuts cuts) Art and Music always go first when it comes to budget constraints.

I don't talk much about my "job" on here just simply because the web isn't a great place to do that (for obvious reasons) but I am really humbled that blog followers that don't even know me or my ability have given me such praise. Means a lot.

Hey they don't pick bad teachers for teacher of the year now do they?

I don't think I blogged much about that either. Back in 2009-2010 I was nominated for Teacher of the Year in Yuma County. Out of 300 + nominees I made it to the top 15 and then narrowed down as one of three nominees for "special area" teachers. It was super nerve racking! I was up against another fellow teacher who had taught art the previous year, but jumped over to PE that year! The other contestant was a reading specialist beat us both (She had won our division category THREE other times in her teaching career!)

Regardless it was a very humbling experience and really made me sad when I left as seeing how much my peers, co workers, faculty staff said I had "enriched" their lives through such gorgeous art!

2010
Can you believe I only took ONE picture the whole night? This was before I had a nice camera in my cell and such :)

So again, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I promise I will continue to educate the youth of america, giving a 100% It's what I was born to do! :)

2nd Grade Giraffes--almost done!

1st grade Elmer --complete!

Little Diddy

Last weekend I was on a mission to find a new rug before my parents come (they haven't seen Mister Wonderful and I since LAST YEAR so I've been making sure everything is put together at our house for their quick visit!)

Old Rug
(Note to others: Having an off white rug is NEVER a wise decision if you are expecting it to last and or expecting it to ever wash clean. It doesn't. At least not one that is used in a heavy traffic area!

You'll notice off to the side there is also a small little navy blue rug--that's where we take our shoes off and put them when we first come in. This entry way shown is our back door entry way, which we use as our main door since our front door we don't go in and out of much at our condo.

Why blue? Our place mats on our kitchen table are blue, my drinking glasses have a glass blown blue rim so I guess I was trying to keep things kinda in the same color scheme.

I also finished our photo gallery wall. I started it when Mister Wonderful and I first moved in to our condo a year and a half ago!

I was missing 2 pictures. I literally didn't like any of the pictures we had taken of "Us" over the last few months and finally when we took our engagement pictures, I picked 2 of our favorites and filled the empty frames!

Gallery wall complete! :)

I'm definitely NOT good at hanging straight, but I did what I could!

Frames are from Michaels. I have to complain about Michaels. For the amount of frames and the price they sell them at, their frames are often beat up, chipped and in terrible condition. I often feel like writing a letter to corporate to address this issue. One day....

sigh

**********

Okay moving on....so I was watching a little bit of Boring Ben on the Bachelor and POOF! On came a little insert of Emily Maynard and Ali Fed and Ashley H!

I was jumping for joy. Anyone that has followed me over the year knows I AM totally in love with Emily's style

Remember when I was ga-ga over her necklace and ended up finding it on ebay?

can re-read that post here

And of course I totally love the necklace she was sporting in the whole 5 min of screen time she had...

thanks to the possessionista, I have another "want" on my list! haha

Happy Thursday lovelies!
