Has anyone picked up the new cosmo? Holy cow Julia stiles looks the best I have ever seen her! Her article in the mag totally explains why we haven't seen Her the last few yrs.

BPA Container FREE!

Well, after conversing with Mister Wonderful about my concerns with my pretty old nasty Tupperware containers, I finally went out and got all GLASS no plastic containers to store, heat up or freeze food in.

The Container Store LOVED me today that's for sure! Spent a good chunk of change in there converting all our containers!

If you are/were like me, and don't know what BPA is,  GOOGLE BPA PLASTIC and see what you find. I can't believe I have been so in the dark about this for all these years. It NEVER occurred to me that heating up left overs in your plastic storage container could contaminate your food from the plastic!!! I mean good god people think of all the TV dinners people eat for meals that come on those plastic trays.....

How much you wanna bet they don't say BPA free on the bottom!? (I can't check because we don't ever buy tv dinners!)

So, I give you, CMae's updated fridge and cabinets!!

Now I have seen some posts from family bloggers that don't even buy milk or water in plastic containers. 

Mister Wonderful and I discussed this and in our opinion, think this is a bit much. Milk is never exposed to the heat obvi and same with our water bottles. We don't take them with us or leave them in cars, so therefore we feel we don't need to store the water in alternative containers. (Notice the Fiji water eh? Mister Wonderful "swears" this is the best water he has ever tasted) Notice my Nestle water. Haha I don't think there is a dang bit of difference personally other than the shape of the container they come in!

I'm pretty convinced that we have the world's smallest fridge (thanks to via landlord lol who bought the bottom basic of all appliances UGH) I've never had a fridge that didn't have a drawer for meat and cheese, or a side panel that wasn't big enough to store your eggs in! Grrrrr

These are some of my new containers Glass! Sorry the fruit looks so dark! there are Blueberries and blackberries in these! 

I even got a container to store my lunchmeat and cheeses in. 

Here are my lovely kitchen cabinets with my new BPA free storage containers for food! 

Now the containers on the left are Rubbermaid and plastic but they are BPA FREE and say so on every bottom and top of the containers which means I can continue to use them in the microwave to heat up food and not worry about anything bad!

Bye bye old no namer no brand really of containers I got looooooong ago in college. What a mistake. Can't believe I kept them this long! 

Well what are your thoughts? Had any of you heard about BPA?

I Loooooooooove this song. Hence the song change on my profile. Must of had all those hot country songs stuck in my head from the CMA's last night. I actually grew up not liking ANY country except Reba McIntire. We named my childhood dog after Reba!  This is just simply because I found/ and still find a lot of the country songs a little to TWANGY for me. At my mothers' wake, they played "I cross my heart" by George Strait. This was my parent's "song". It was so heart breaking to listen to, I just kinda shut country out of my life!

Up until recently that is...

The only country artists I listen to presently, like the way I listen to John Mayer or my beloved Dave Matthews Band are Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, and the once popular Dixie Chicks. I like a few songs here and there of course by Taylor Swift, Reba, Sugarland, Lady Antebellum, & Rascal Flatts.

But growing up from Chicago, I can attest that we only had ONE country radio station up in the city, and it never was programmed in my car presets!

A singer long time?

Watching the CMAs last night I never knew Gwyneth  Paltrow could sing. NO CLUE. And I'm not talking country. Does anyone recall back to this song? it was first made big my Smokey Robinson, then this duet. I had NO IDEA it was Gwen singing!! So to anyone thinking she is making her music debut bec of her famous singing Coldplay husband, WRONG!!!

And last night's country song :) Country strong. Vince Gill is timeless. Love that he is married to my childhood fave Amy Grant!!!

CMA's 2010

Well so far out of all the blogs I follow, no one has posted anything about the awesome CMA's last night! (Country Music Awards)

Girl Crush!!! Carrie Underwood is just simply Fab!!!! I had a really hard time finding any picture from the show on the web if you can believe that!!! So, I did what any desperate girl would do, lol the one we site I did find some decent pictures, I just used my cell to take pictures of what I was seeing on my computer since they wouldn't let me click and drag the image to share!

My fave dress on her was this bottom picture the pink dress with the flowers all along the bottom. She's s gorgeous! I never was a fan of American Idol. In fact, the only 2 seasons I thought were any good with real talent, were Kelly Clarkson's season and Carrie Underwoods!

So it's been like 7 hours since I last updated and wouldn't ya know the internet has finally caught up and added pictures from last night so here is a clearer view of the dress I absolutely adore!! 

To bad she didn't win an award, but it's nice to see others win too. Did anyone else watch?

Still Life Fruit Bowls

Super proud of my first graders. I haven't taught this lesson in a few years, but it seemed appropriate as we are headed into November/Fall/Thanksgiving.

Students had to learn what a still life was. I asked them could a basket of puppies be a still life? Could I,  the teacher be a still life? The best way I told them to remember, was whatever a still life was, it couldn't be alive! They caught on right away.

The fruit is removable. Students created a pocket bowl so they were able to rearrange their fruit--put it in, take it out, move it to the left, make the grapes higher etc etc. They turned out great. These are the ones that were chosen to hang on the only display wall in our office!!!
