Gotta be real here.
I haven't fallen in "love" with the olympic games since these girls pretty much set the bar for the summer games
The Year: 1996
The Year: 1996
That's right the magnificent SEVEN!
Amanda Borden, Dominque Dawes, Amy Chow, Jaycie Phelps, Dominque Moceanu, Kerri Strug, and Shannon Miller.
Check them out today!
I'd have to say Shannon Miller is by far the most unrecognizable!
That's Amanda Borden at the mic, Shannon Miller is to HER left (our right on the screen)
These ladies are the Michael Jordans of gymnastics. ONE OF A KIND; ONCE in a lifetime.
I am looking forward to seeing how these ladies do:
The new olympic gymnastic team hopefuls.
Thanks Google for the picture, now if only I knew who the Frick these girls are?
Like I said, I haven't followed the Olympics seriously since the previous dream team ruled.
Anyone else fall into this category!?
Go USA!
God Bless AMERICA!
I'm pretty much the same. I loved watching that 96 Olympic team. Although I did watch the trials this year so I do know a little about the new girls.
ReplyDeleteTo be completely invest I have never even watched the Olympics. Crazy? Maybe! I do however want to see the volleyball & gymnastics one this year.
ReplyDeleteI looooveed the Magnificent Seven!! They were all so awesome!
ReplyDeleteI am with you though - haven't followed the Olympics as much since then, although in 2008 I did follow the swimming events! I remember being in a bar in downtown Richmond when Michael Phelps was competing for one of his (many) gold medals and literally every single person in the bar was screaming "USA!! USA!!". It was kinda awesome.
I'm looking forward to watching the Fab 5 compete!!
I remember watching the Olympics as a kid (probably in 96) but I was too young to appreciate it and fully understand.
ReplyDeleteEver since Carly Patterson in 2004, I've been obsessed! And I think the Fab Five have an excellent shot at taking gold this year :)
The girls in the picture are (from L to R) Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Kyla Ross, Jordyn Wieber, & McKayla Maroney :)
i also haven't gotten into the olympics since '96! i'm actually watching this year though!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED the magnificent seven! And the only other time I can remember getting THAT in to the games was during the men's swimming relay 4 years ago. I was jumping up and down in my living room! I used to be a swimmer so I get pretty into the swimming. I used to be all about Lochte this year, but I like how Phelps is being so humble and Lochte is calling it "his time" and says he has a fan club and is just getting to be a bit much. Phelps all the way!
ReplyDelete(Oh and I'm totally rooting for our dream team gymnasts, too! I just LOVE them! So crazy that they're so young!)
ReplyDeleteMy friend and I were JUST talking about this this morning! I remember all of their names (from the '96 team) and can remember jumping for joy and having tears in my eyes when Keri Strugg landed after being injured. I hope these girls are that good too!
ReplyDeleteI remember the Seven!!! haha
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing how the ladies do this year.

ReplyDeleteThe magnificient seven were the best!!! I loved them and can remember watching all of their games. SO great! I thought the fab 5 did great this year!
