THINGS I DON’T DO

This post is completely inspired by and taken from Wrangling chaos blog written by blogger mom Jess. You can read it here :)

Here's what I started with when I commented on Jess' post on her page:

I don’t do parents at my school who think they know everything that goes on in my class by conversing with their child first, rather than asking me. Those are phone calls I’ll never return on purpose. They care that much, they can hunt me down face to face.

I don’t do winter. Living in AZ has been a dream for the last 9 years. Snow is my nemesis.

I don’t do (hang with or am around) anyone who smokes. Frankly I find the smell repulsing. As well as smokers breath and yellow teeth.

I don’t do generic macaroni and cheese. just can’t and just won’t. Has to be velveeta or

Kraft.

I don't do new years resolutions. Quite frankly I find them to be like a promise you just can't keep.

I don't cook. Or bake. Thank goodness for a husband that does both! Whew! Would you want someone to cook your dinner who burns pop corn? I don't think so!

I don't watch the news. Ever. They never say anything positive or happy on the news, and when they do, its like for a whole 30 seconds which then gets trumped by all the "bad" news. Forget it.

I don't let others borrow my hair brush or anything lip related. Working in a school and getting the 411 on head lice will do that to a person. haha :)

I don't do friends who just had kids and blow you off because they are "busy" thing well. If you have time to piss on the toilet and instagram a photo of your kid, then you have time to reply to an email or a text. Just sayin.

Got any " I don't do's" of your own?

Hallelujah! Joyeux Noel!

I spent all morning on YOUTUBE learning out how to properly put in my new hair extensions!

How did I do?!

I never ever thought I'd be "that girl" with fake hair but I have to admit, I LOVE them! This was a christmas present to myself, as hair is not a cheap thing to purchase!

I asked a ton of people, watched reviews online and decided I'd go with LacedHairExtensions. The lovely Aubrey Kinch was the first person I knew to actually get them, and try them out. I asked her if picking up her old extensions from Sallys was just as good. She told me she'd never go back and that was that! As soon as she uttered those words I decided it was a done deal.

I've always been that girl who could never grow her hair out past the boob area. I am a natural blonde, who has never dyed my hair or permed it or anything of the sorts, so it's always been strange to me that even with the best of care, I could never get my hair to grow long!

I think I've tried every product under the sun and have just come to terms that some people, myself included, just can't grow their hair a certain length!

Here's the website to LacedHairExtensions

I purchased the 18/22 highlight lowlight mix (top seller)
and am happy I did. A lot of people think I am a straight up bleach blonde, when in fact my hair is quite dirty blonde (what us blondes call "dark" underneath!)

The shipping was uber fast too! Total win in my book!

Here's a little before and after...please excuse the sans makeup and PJ pants!

Progression of curling the hair in progress...still no make up eeek!

 Ta-dah!

I am sorry for posting such a vain post on hair of all things on Christmas eve, but sadly it's the most exciting thing that has happened to me in a long while! LOL

Merry Christmas Eve, Eve

It's hard to fully get into the Christmas spirit with no snow here in warm AZ!

Which got me thinking of some of my all time favorite Christmas commericals as a kid.

This one isn't that old, but I still love it!

There you have it friends!

I've written so many awesome christmas posts, I find it hard to top them!

I wrote all about Christmas Trees and the White House you can read that here

All about the famous Chicago Home Alone house here

All about the movie The Holiday here

Wanna read more? type in Christmas in my search box on my blog and keep reading! :)

Sunday Tune

I saw this picture

And instantly, this song came to my mind

Wild horses by The Sundays on Grooveshark

Which of course made me think of the movie "Fear" starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Walhberg and their infamous roller coaster scene which is where I first heard this song.

What's everybody wearing?

Well if you don't follow me on instagram, then you probably missed a few of my new favorite looks!

This is one of my new favorite T Shirts from Hello Apparel. They are based right here in Phoenix! Who knew!

This outfit I wire to the Michael Buble' concert a few weeks ago. Top is from Target!

This adorable elbow patch top I've had for a few months and finally wore it out. It's from the Gap!

This was my Sunday Best for Church two Sundays ago! My whole outfit is from an amazing boutique called Bluetique.

This was my Ugly Christmas outfit for our Staff party last weekend. I know, I know, my sweater is not all that ugly, I couldn't go completely hideous! Cute worked for me...in a 90s era sort of way :)

And lastly, my christmas present that my hubby bought me was this beautiful coat from Banana Republic. I tried it on in the store a few weeks ago, (see first coat picture) and instagrammed it. Of course everyone was saying I had to get it, which I totally agreed! It's not a heavy coat, just perfect for our Fall/Winters here in AZ.

Speaking of outfits, what's everybody wearing for New Years/Christmas this year? I will admit, I have nothing to wear for New Years, this is the second year where my hubby is "on call" and thus we usually can't go out and do anything.

And the Voice is..

Before I get to the winner, can I just say how awesome it was to see/hear/watch Christina Aguilera (MY FAVE) share the stage with the queen diva herself, Lady Gaga?
lady-gaga-christina-aguilera-do-what-u-want
What does that one commercial say? Oh, It was AMAZEBALLS. Haha!

I was shocked that such powerhouse voices did such a collaboration!

I had to cut out 30 min early last night to go to bed, so I actually didn't get to watch live who won. Which is kind of a joke, because being in a different time zone, it really isn't "live" as they say. That's annoying. Anyhow, I purposefully didn't log on to ANY social media so I wouldn't read or hear who won. Just from turning the TV on this morning to watch the last few min on DVR the news was like "AND THE WINNER OF THE VOICE IS" and I started to say "LA L A LA " very loudly so they wouldn't spoil it for me!

I also really liked this performance by all the boys. I am still wowed by Matthew and Preston's voices.

And hello Celine Dion and Ne-Yo. I cannot stop listening to "Incredible" on spotify. I am hoping Celine is back! I bought her new CD for my Grandma for X mas this year!

Even though I voted for Jackie Lee, I think everyone knew that Tessanne Chin was the clear winner from the beginning, as she proved with her amazing powerhouse Voice.

Who did everyone else want to win?

From Anna to Behati

One thought first came to mind when the VS fashion show was blowing up twitter last night.

All I could recall was Adam Levine and his FORMER girlfriend Anne Vyalitsyna.

Remember this?

Yeah now fast forward to last night

Adam's fiance' is only 24! He's 34.

And I think he must have a thing for models. And only VS models at that. Awkward if you are Anne because he's your ex and dating a co worker and awkward if you are Behati since you are getting sloppy seconds.

Of course to each their own, and age may not be an issue for certain people. I just know, in terms for my self, can't imagine getting married at 24 and being "Ready". I also think it's a lot harder when you are in the "industry" such as hollywood to really find "true" love.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...in the art room

If you have a 60 min art class, these are a snap to get done. I only get my kiddos for 40 min, but bless their hearts, they came in on their lunch recess to complete these beauties.
Candy Canes done by 5th grade.

Kinder Christmas or winter mice. This project can be your worst nightmare if you don't have everything prepped and ready to go. I had to hot glue all candy cane tales, eyes and puff ball noses.  All snowflakes were punched out durning prep times or having early finishers from other classes help me out.

1st grade Santa "cropped" portraits. My first graders are so cute look at those rosy cheeks they gave their Kris Kringles.

These are 3D snowflakes and are being completed by a different 5th grade class. Need more than 40 min to complete these!

The bad thing about Dec, is there is only a 3 week window to make any "Christmas" art. The good thing about January is that snowman can be carried into the winter month! :)

Movie Review

Last week during Thanksgiving weekend, I dragged my hubby to go and see "Dallas Buyers Club." I had heard that Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey were up for Oscars for their roles in this film.

I will say this, if you are someone that is uncomfortable watching sex or drugs on screen, this film isn't for you.

There hasn't been an AIDS movie made since Tom Hanks starred in Philadelphia film in 1993.
This is one of those movies that made me "Think" about it even hours after I had seen the film. A reminder to always be careful...you can't fully trust where people have "been" so to speak. And that's all I'll say about that.

What the movie is about:

  1. A son of Texas, Ron Woodroof is an electrician and rodeo cowboy. In 1985, he is well into an unexamined existence with a devil-may-care lifestyle. Suddenly, Ron is blindsided by being diagnosed as H.I.V.-positive and given 30 days to live. Yet he will not, and does not, accept a death sentence. His crash course of research reveals a lack of approved treatments and medications in the U.S., so Ron crosses the border into Mexico. There, he learns about alternative treatments and begins smuggling them into the U.S., challenging the medical and scientific community including his concerned physician, Dr. Eve Saks. An outsider to the gay community, Ron finds an unlikely ally in fellow AIDS patient Rayon, a transsexual who shares Ron's lust for life. Rayon also shares Ron's entrepreneurial spirit: seeking to avoid government sanctions against selling non-approved medicines and supplements, they establish a "buyers club," where H.I.V.-positive people pay monthly dues for access to the newly acquired supplies. Deep in the heart of Texas, Ron's pioneering underground collective beats loud and strong. With a growing community of friends and clients, Ron fights for dignity, education, and acceptance. In the years following his diagnosis, the embattled Lone Star loner lives life to the fullest like never before.

17f4ef145f8d11e3af150a387219b903_8

18 years ago you left me. I hardly remember in vivid detail all things I swore I'd never forget as I grew older. I am so grateful for the baby book you kept and filled out until you got cancer. I enjoy pulling it out on this day and seeing your handwriting and the photos to help me remember --- to never forget how important you are to me even though you are gone. You were the best mom a little girl could ever have. RIP mom. 12-7-95 #mom #heaven #myangel

Only the good die young...

Billy Joel never sang truer words than he did in that song. Finding out about Paul Walker last night I genuinely felt sad and like hollywood lost a great one. I felt the same way when Patrick Swayze died a few years ago. Like you wanted to yell to God, "NO! Not that one!" Please!

There was so much mass confusion as to if the actor really did die too. Apparently there was a big internet hoax only a few days or weeks before claiming he had died.

I remember really falling for Paul in Varsity Blues. Hello boyfriend who had sex with Ali Larter on a washer and dryer!  So hot!

I'm not gonna lie, his on screen "romance" with Jordana Brewster is why I loved the Fast and the Furious series so much.

pleasantville_reese_witherspoon_cherry
Here he is with Reese Witherspoon in Pleasantville.

Not to many people know Paul was a father to a daughter named Meadow Rain. She lived in Hawaii with her mom all these years. I think Paul did a great job of protecting his daughter's identity, because if you search on google, not a single picture comes up of her. Kudos to you for being a hot hollywood celeb and being able to shield all of who you are away from your daughter to have a normal life.

So Paul, in memory of you, I write this post. I am truly saddened God took you so early.
