Great Find From Back in December found TODAY!

Remember way back in December (read old post here) when I blogged about these adorable canisters, and how bad I wanted them, but didn't want to pay the 50 ish plus bucks for them?

Well guess what I got at TJMAXX today........

and for only SIX DOLLARS. SIX DOLLARS Y'ALL!!!
What a steal!

All three sizes were at TJMAXX too! I highly recommend if you wanted one, to check out your local TJ's to see if you can find one!

I have to brag about Walmart right now. Er below rather. This is the best sugar free sweet tea I have EVER drank. No lie. I swear. Mister Wonderful and I have been weening off our Snapple diet, as sadly we took a good look at the back and reminded ourselves that it contains ASPARTAME in it...aka known to cause cancer........ Aspartame is found in ALL diet drinks. Not good girls.

Well how is it that this sweet tea that contains no sugar taste so good without aspartame you say?

Answer: Sucralose.
Sucralose can be found in more than 4,500 food and beverage products. It is used because it is a no-calorie sweetener, does not promote dental cavities,[11] is safe for consumption by diabetics,[12] and does not affect insulin levels.[13] Sucralose is used as a replacement for, or in combination with, other artificial or natural sweeteners such as aspartameacesulfame potassium or high-fructose corn syrup

And those are my awesome Thursday Finds for you all.

OH. and PS!

Jaws

Anyone ever see a movie that scared the piss outta them as a child?

 For me THIS was it.
All it took was the classic DUH Nuh.  DUH NUH. DUH NUH DUH NUH ..................

This movie probably had the biggest psychological effect on people than any other in history... To this day people are still scared to go into the water because of it. I should know. I'm one of them!

I know that as a child I was PETRIFIED of swimming even in a POOL with a deep end. To make matters worse, I saw this at an age where I had to learn how to swim. Bad mommy and daddy for letting me watch this.

The pool that my mom took us to learn to swim at, had a SHARK logo painted on the deep end of the pool's wall. Not friendly shark  face-- oh no, one with teeth and a mean look on his face.

Needless to say I did NOT pass swim class that year.

Think that's bad?

A few years later when I was 13, we went to Disney World in Florida, right after my mom passed away.

My brother who was only 9 at the time went on the Jaws ride with my dad, I stood outside and waited for them. I was terrified. ITS JUST A RIDE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, right?

No mechanical shark was gonna get me. Oh No.  I wouldn't even stand under the classic jaws display.
Not my picture, just a googled picture but you get the idea.

These pictures are from yahoo's little article about Jaws this morning. Even flipping through the slide show, I had a hard time stomaching the images.

So needless to say, I DONT like SHARKS. AT ALL! Scare me to death.

Ironically, I do own JAWS on DVD. Is that weird? haha

Get your Fitness On

I think Mister Wonderful wins the "guns show" by a landslide.
Yeah, I got nothin on him.
Sadly, he won't be able to work out with his boo boo finger for three whole weeks! I think he'll go stir crazy. It's already been just 3 days since his surgery on his finger and he already has mentioned he feels "blah" about himself.

His & Hers

Today's his & hers (inspired by the posts over at Hooray Design and Pure and Noble) is all about things we dislike. So, without further adieu, here is Mister Wonderful's answers and my own.

HIS:

biggest pet peeve: Driving in traffic.

most hated food: red bell peppers.

most despised type of music: any pop remakes of songs from the 80s (basically what he is sayin is all the songs you hear on mainstream radio that is a total rip off of a song from earlier years)

chore to avoid: PUTTING AWAY CLOTHES!!!

worst trend imaginable: government spending

idea of the worst vacation: Detroit, MI

HER:

biggest pet peeve: I have a few, but most have to do with children today and how they are being raised today or lack there of rather, by parents. Parents are so quick to point the finger and say, "Johnny and Susie wouldn't do that" and never put any of the problems on themselves. (That's the teacher in me for ya)

most hated food: It's a tie between
sauerkraut |ˈsou(ə)rˌkrout|
noun
chopped cabbage that has been pickled in brine.

and

bratwurst |ˈbrätˌwərst| (also brats)
noun
a type of fine German pork sausage that is typically fried or grilled.

most despised type of music: have to agree with Mister Wonderful on this, all the crap that mainstream radio is playing, they take the back beat of old songs and use them on meaningless tracks today!

chore to avoid: I don't really avoid them, I do most of them.. Okay I take that back. Cleaning the TOilet. This would be why MW has bathroom duty. :)

worst trend imaginable: silly bands. GAH Don't get me started. can't stand em!

idea of the worst vacation: Tjuana, Mexico. YUCK. Dirty. The end.

Do these questions with your boyfriend/husband/partner and learn something new about each other or see what you already knew :).

In case you are wondering how Mister Wonderful was so willing to answer these, that's because he's kinda laid up at the moment!!

My nurse got to have me as his Nurse! Without going into a lot of detail, if you'll notice it's just his finger. And in 3 weeks he should be back to work. Summer school has ended, so now we are both home all day! :) I think Aspen is heaven with us both home!

Sunday Funday Summer Movie Review_

So on Friday I went to see BAD TEACHER

Laughed my Bootie off. I think most teachers would appreciate it! All the things we WISH we could say to students, but of course don't.
A few things....

*Cameron Diaz was AWESOME. She played her role to a "T".

*I couldn't get over that there was no awkwardness between her and Justin Timberlake, since when this was filmed, Timberlake was heavily involved with Jessica Biel at the time.

*Jason Segal hello finally you make a good movie since Forgetting Sarah Marshall!

And for those of you wondering, there were many scenes depicted that DO NOT ever happen during a normal school day. That's all I can say without giving away bits of the movie.

Rental wise....

” All I have are the choices I make, and I choose her, come what may.” - David, The Adjustment Bureau

I felt like I was watching The Matrix when watching this. I had so many questions to ask throughout the movie! Overall it was decent. Rent worthy.

I also rented "The Other Woman" starring Natalie Portman
Where do I begin with this one. Natalie plays great roles but man, the whole concept of this movie was just SAD!

She totally steals a married woman's husband who already has a 'family' and doesn't seem a bit remorseful throughout the film for her actions (Guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree in the film she has a terrible relationship with her own father for her father ran around on her mother) I kept thinking about all the women out there that do this... Lust after married men, end up marrying them. How do they live with themselves? How do they not ever worry that if he cheated when he was married before, that he wouldn't cheat on you? That's a whole other discussion though....

Then there's her whole role as "stepmom" and boy she has to be the worst ever. She doesn't relate to kids at all (her character and thus causes her marriage to crumble)

watch for yourself if you haven't seen it!

That's all lovelies.

Famous Movie Homes For Sale

I tweeted about this yesterday, but did y'all ever grow up watching certain movies even as a kid being impressed by a house in a film?  Well this house, has been on the market for 49 days.... What house am I referring to?

why this movie's house!

FATHER OF THE BRIDE

Who presents this woman? This woman? But she’s not a woman. She’s just a kid. And she’s leaving us. I realized at that moment that I was never going to come home again and see Annie at the top of the stairs. Never going to see her again at our breakfast table in her nightgown and socks. I suddenly realized what was happening. Annie was all grown up and was leaving us, and something inside began to hurt.
                          - Steve Martin as George Banks

Did u know...
more than 50 movies have been shot there, including Liar Liar, Herbie: Fully Loaded, Halloween and Apt Pupil.

Here's a shot of it THEN (aka back in the 90s when the movie was filmed)

Here's the house "today". I think they added something to the front of the house to make the entryway look different.

And can't forget this house..filmed in my former home state of IL....

The home's owners said they had been approached by Hughes' production company about using the house for his previous feature, "Uncle Buck," but refused because they were just settling in and had not sold their old home.
When the location manager returned 18 months later, they agreed to turn their home into a movie set.
Beyond its celluloid fame, the 1920s home features a gourmet kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, a sunroom, a dormered attic bedroom and a detached garage and is situated on a half-acre lot not far from Lake Michigan.

Here's a shot of the entry hallway where "kevin" sleds down the stairs

and here's what the house entry way looks like today...

Call me old fashioned but I am partial to the older look of the entryway hallway/stairs! :)

How about this one?

hopeless romantic, eternal optimist, lover of fairy tales, believer in happy endings...

No, I don’t think I will kiss you, although you need kissing, badly. That’s what’s wrong with you. You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how.

Softer than the summer night

Sweeter than wine
Softer than the summer night
Everything I want I have
Whenever I hold you tight
— There Goes My Baby, The Drifters

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Take a Listen if you can't remember the song (:

The Sandlot is by far one of my favorite kid movies ever. The movie reminds me of my childhood in a sense and makes me incredibly nostalgic. It reminds me of growing up living on a street with a cul-du-sac waking up early to go bike riding with friends all over, or roller skating/blading, hide n seek etc etc.

So Nautical

image via tumblr

O Captain, my Captain!
O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck the Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up --- for you the flag is flung --- for you the bugle trills,
For you the bouquets and ribbon'd wreaths --- for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning,
Here Captain! dear father!
The arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You've fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,
The ship is anchor'd safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead. - Walt Whitman

:::::Sigh:::::::
~3 more days of teaching summer school~

then my summer finally begins! I am ready to be on a boat! Okay so I won't get to go on a boat, but I will soon be in Illinois & Ohio for twelve days visiting family I haven't seen in over 2  years. Should be interesting.

Is it silly for an art teacher to want to purchase a nice new apron for next year knowing perfectly well that I am going to get paint all over this?

Recently got 3 make up

suggestions via Pink Lou Lou's fab tutorial on her blog. Her button is on the side of my page, so if you don't already follow her, stop on by for a touch of some southern hospitality! :) Gonna give the Carrie Underwood fab cheeks a try...we shall see if I have any success!

And thus I leave you with some more pup pics, basically what Aspen and I did all weekend..

Life's rough. right Aspen?
