Plates Anyone?

I have become fascinated with this whole concept of finding vintage/antique plates and then making them a display on a wall somewhere in your home.

My question is, how many of you can tell me how do you even hang a plate on a wall? Do share!

  2. What a cool idea! No idea how you hang a plate on the wall, but it's definitely a conversation starter to have in your home!

  3. I have a plate display in my kitchen, we found some adhesive disks that have a metal ring attached to them. you peel off the disk and apply a little water, stick to the back of the plate...wait 8 hrs then hang up with the metal ring. We found those at hobby lobby. :)

My parents have some plates hung at there house. They're on a small section of wall so there's only about 8 but I love them!

  7. Oh I love this idea! I was just at an antique store this weekend and they had some really interesting old plates and I think that this is a really cute idea because I hate bare walls! I've seen it done where people take plates that have a lattice pattern around the rim and put ribbon through and hang them that way, but if the plate has a smooth rim, then I don't really know how you'd hang them...but I'd love to find out!

  12. This is one of my favorite ideas! I can't wait to have a plate wall in my new house. I've heard that a straight pin, like used for sewing and such is a great way to hang things on the wall without leaving marks! :)

  13. You have to buy these springy things that basically attach around the top and bottom of the plate that have an area to put on a wall hook on the back. I am no sure what they are called, but I am sure that a hardwear store would carry them. I have no idea how you would hang them if you don't want the "plate holder" to show a little though.

  16. I went with the same idea, but with mismatched vintage picture frames and black and white photo's of my family and friends.

  17. That first pic has been the background on my work laptop for about a month. I'm obsessed and want to find a spot to do this in my house! I've hung plates before and they sell special wire holders to use.

  18. @Cassandra- do those really work?? I've seen them at the store, but was afraid one day it'd stop sticking and my precious plates would be shattered on the floor!
@Ruthie- that's what we're currently using and I hate them- the prongs are so obvious and distract from the plate- it's why I haven't proceeded with making an official plate wall though I have an ever growing collection I want desperately to display, and these pictures from Pinterest are killing me! LOL
