More Art For your viewing pleasure

Friday was Read Across America Day and also Dr. Suess' birthday! So OF COURSE I did a cat in the hat lesson with my 1st graders and my kinders are working on big cakes for Dr. Suess too! :)

3rd grade spent LOTS of time studying pictures of fish--realistic photos and drawings of them. They had to create their own PORTHOLE (big vocab word they had to comprehend) and what their view of under the sea would look like. They were asked to have SOME overlapping in their drawings. Some got this concept right away while others struggled with it. This is really the part of the year where lessons get "harder" and I am beginning to see what they are understanding/retaining and what they are not.

In after school art, my students just wrapped up their Japan art lessons--here are some of their Kimonos!

They put my example to shame! so talented!
