You are Fired!

In Donald Trump's famous words, "You are fired!"

Poor Paula Deen.

First, I must say that saying the "N" word is NEVER acceptable. Never acceptable if you are black, white, brown, blue etc you get the idea. Just as it's not acceptable to call a Mexican the "S" word (rhymes with ick) and or a white person a cracker. All are offensive and have terrible connotations to them.

But boy does this photo have a point!

We all know what's coming next. The Food Network will replace Paula with a Black Chef, who we ALL know, won't have "racial" issues. Watch and see. Has anyone ever watched Hells Kitchen? He calls women "Fat Cows", and worse. Half of his comments, are bleeped out. Talk about firing someone!

What is it about double standards!?!

Thoughts?

  1. Totally agree with you. Crazy how much of a double standard there is out there in this crazy world. I watch Hells Kitchen all the time and yes sometimes I can't believe what Chef Ramsey says to these people AND gets away with it.

  2. I agree that it is totally not acceptable to ever use those words, but there are absolutely double standards that I wish more people would see that and acknowledge it. Reminds me of when Gwyneth Paltrow was quoting Kanye West's song "Niggas in Paris" and got in major hot water. I am all for defusing the connotation of that word but apparently the double standard is wayyy too high. They have the right to fire Paula if they wish, but would I have fired her? Nope.

  3. Although I don't agree with what she said (I mean, who does) she was under oath. And if she said it, she said it and chose not to lie about it. Unfortunately she will feel the repercussions for a long while.

  4. I completely agree with you. If they are going to fire her, then they need to fire all of the rappers who make racist comments as well. The double standard is so obvious it's sad.

  6. I totally agree with you. Double standards all around but until somebody stands up and fights it (is exactly what Paula Deen should do) it will keep happening. If one side can say the word and its ok then all sides should be able to say it. There should be no middle with this. Some things just have to be all or nothing.

  7. I do think there are double standards regarding this in general. But as for being employed by a certain network....some networks are more strict with their talent and want family friendly hosts. FN hires hosts from all kinds of ethnicities and welcoming their local foods and cultures are important on their network, so derogatory remarks about anyones background or race is not going to be overlooked.
Obviously the network that has Chef Ramsey is a little less strict than FN! :)
I think FN is just standing up for what they believe in...which is equality!

*I work there so I had to chime in! :)

  8. I couldn't care less about "cracker". That is so stupid. What is it even supposed to mean? I'm salty? Square? Kinda cream colored? Uuuhhhh...it isn't offensive to me. Who on earth does this offend? And really, no joke, WHY is it offensive?
Don't give me mean answers, I am being sincere. I really don't get it.

    1. Calling a white person cracker is saying that someone is superior, but most people of other ethnicities see it as a slim offense when compared to other racial epithets.

  9. I think if she would have originally came clean with it people would have been more willing to forgive. When word first leaked out that she said it she tried to deny it. Then the PROOF got leaked and she had to recant.
