Footloose Old VS New

On Saturday, with a friend, against my first initial thought, we went and saw "Footloose" the remake.

I will be very upfront and say I LOVE the 80s one with Kevin Bacon, Lori Singer, and Chris Penn.

That's SJP (Sarah Jessica Parker) Above (incase you live under a rock and didn't know she was in footloose) She plays Rusty in the original.

I own the original on DVD. So I knew going into it, that I was pretty sure I wouldn't "love" this remake just bec of the fact that is was a REMAKE!

It was "cute". Julianne Hough is not as skinny minnie as her days on Dancing with the stars!
the lead actor who played Ren is really in fact from Boston, so his accent was genuine!

What I did love about the movie was hearing a track in the film called "FAKE ID" by Big & Rich feat Gretchen Wilson

I immediately came home and downloaded the song.

The only thing I liked about the movie was the new guy who played Willard. He totally made the movie.

Here's a clip of my fave scene in the "new" footloose that features that song FAKE ID!

Enjoy!

And from the 80s, this is my fave part in the old movie a scene between Chris Penn and Kevin Bacon

Ren: You like Men At Work?
Willard: what men?
Ren: Men at work.
Willard: well where do they work?
Ren: No, they're a music group.
Willard: well what do they call themselves?
Ren: Oh no! What about the Police?
Willard: What about 'em?
Ren: You ever heard them?
Willard: No, but I seen them.
Ren: Where, in concert?
Willard: No, behind you.

Another fave clip from the ORIGINAL

  8. I havent really had the itch to go see the remake. It kind of looked like STOMP or those other dance movies. Sounds like the original is still the best?!?! - Sarah

  12. I love SJP in “old” Footloose! Thanks for the review; I am contemplating whether or not I should pay money to see it in theaters or wait to critique in the comfort of my own home. I do love Julianne Hough though… hate her brother with a passion but, love her.

  16. All I have heard is that Willard makes the movie and that Julianne is so less of a bitch then the original Ariel. Thanks for sharing. I'm still torn on whether to spend the money or not.
