peace in the valley- Sunday Tune

Everyone that "knows" me knows my love for Elvis Presley, and how I've always said, joked, that I'd name a future unborn daughter Presley! :)

Anyway, I thought this song was fitting for this Sunday, especially after this tragic weekend.

God and Schools

I think this pretty much sums it up. 

This is why our nation is falling apart. For all those idiots that even wanted to remove GOD from our money, you don't take away from which this country was founded upon! 

I think our founding fathers are rolling in their graves with how we behave today as a country!

My confession: 

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat... 

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to. 

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking. 
In light of recent events... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc.. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school... The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about.. And we said okay..

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.' 

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace. 

Are you laughing yet? 

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it. 

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

A Heavy Heart: Prayers for New Town, CT

As I taught art to my kinders today, I looked around at each one of their sweet innocent faces and teared up thinking of those little 5 yr olds that were murdered today in Connecticut. A week before Christmas. May God be with with the families of those children lost.

A little christmas cheer from Aspen to all of you! :) 

Christmas Spirit!

I instagrammed this a week or so ago, I found this santa for our front entryway table at Hobby Lobby!

This weekend I dove right in and started to wrap all the presents I have to mail to everywhere but to people who live in AZ. UGH kill me now. Last year mailing gifts costed me 60 dollars! 

I am loving my brown wrap and bakers twine as my choice of wrapping paper this year! :) Sometimes less is so much more! :) 

Our winter wreath came a few days ago! :) I wanted to order something via etsy of course, and a wreath that I could have up for not only December but January too. Here's the shop in case anyone is interested! 

Hubs and I got our first "Married" ornaments for our tree! 

(Well thanks to my shopping eye that saw them at Nordstoms) 

Both have the year 2012 on the back! :) 

Aren't these hand towels devine!?! I heart anthropologie. The one that says december has another month on the other side. It came in a set! 

And for your viewing pleasure, here's the fur child--in the mist of all the wrapping I did. Of course she had to be in the center of it all, would you expect anything less of her? haha Should of named her Diva! 

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...in the art room!

I saw this idea as a pinterest craft where there was a hole cut in the back and white x mas lights are put inside to light up the milk jug, but even without the lights the jugs turned out super cute with my after school art enrichment class kiddos!

I originally started with Tempera paint, but the paint was peeling off way to easy. I tried to cover with moge podge but I really felt like it was wasting it so then I opted for white spray paint. Bingo! 

My 5th graders started their clay snowmen. I am SO proud of them~ they really did such a great job executing details!

Also in my after school art class, I had them made these winter silhouettes! 

Debacle: X Mas Theft

Last night I came home from working job #2, and the hubs tells me that our neighbor on our right came over to give us a package that had been delivered that day, that he had been holding on to for us. The kicker of the story is, our nice neighbor was holding it for us, because he was outside doing yard work, when he had over heard the "other" neighbors on our left side, conversing about stealing our package off our porch! 



Apparently it was 2 teen boys, and one was like saying, "naw man just leave it" while the other one was ready to snatch it! 

The hubs was in and out throughout the day, and didn't use the front door to know we had a package there. I am thankful I had a nice enough neighbor to intervene, yet at the same time I am stuck in the predicament of what to do. 

Do we confront the neighbors who's son(s) were thinking of stealing it?

Note, this so called neighbor has I guess supposedly not had a good rep in the neighborhood. Prior to us moving in our home, I guess their son went to jail ( I didn't ask what for) 

Husband doesn't want to confront the neighbors, afraid it will cause drama, plus he says we can't prove anything since nothing did technically happen (due to our neighbor intervening.)

Would you confront a neighbor that is already disliked and has a bad rep?

Blog Facelift!

It's been 10 months since I've changed up my blog design! So, in order to keep things fresh, I turned to etsy and found an etsy bloggy designer help give my page a facelift! Yes, usually I try to tweak things myself, but with working so much, I just don't have the "time" to play in photoshop as I used to! 

The whole header image on the side totally grew on me, and thus I decided to go with the new hip  updated blogger look! 

What y'all think? 

On another note, I cannot believe we are already 4 days into December! 

Before you know it, Christmas will be here! Time is flying!

Book Review!

So I just finished Gillian Flynn's 3rd book, "Dark Places". I was skeptic about liking this book since I loved Gone Girl,  then ended up hating Sharp Objects.

Good news is that I loved this book too. This is a book I would love to be made into a movie. 

I mean serial murders are kinda mysterious and intriguing in general.

What Good Reads says:

So anyone looking for a good read, I'd gladly recommend this book!
