HIGHWAY TO THE DANGER ZONE!!!
The Graves house on the corner of Pacific Street & Seagaze Drive is named for Dr. Henry Graves who built it in 1887. It’s one of the oldest houses in Oceanside. Today, the house commonly known as the “Top Gun” house, because it appeared in the 1986 blockbuster movie “Top Gun” as the home of character “Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Blackwood’s” (Kelley McGillis).

According to my friend, the person who owns it is building condos all around it which makes me sad, yet they leave the house up and do nothing to it. I Mean some one should come in and restore the famous house! (Just in my opinion!)
It's always intriguing to me to see just from 1986 to now how much the area has "changed".
At least the people who own the original Home alone house in chicago didn't let it look like this, or the people that own the original Father of The Bride house, even the people who own the house used in "The Chistmas Story" took the time to restore the house.

So each summer I try to watch a TV show's whole series. Last summer I watched Friday Night Lights and Lost. The summer before that I think it was The Wonder Years (which I actually own on DVD)
This summer, as of yesterday, I watched all six seasons of Party of Five.
I absolutely LOVED and still love that show. I think I was so drawn to it, since it was filmed from 1994-2000 my prime "teen" years. I related most to the character of "Claudia" played by Lacey Chabert. In real life she is the same age as me, and as her character on TV she was 11, in 1994 I was only 2 years older so I seemed to gravitate towards her.
The house is one of my all time favorite TV houses.

The home's owners said they had been approached by Hughes' production company about using the house for his previous feature, "Uncle Buck," but refused because they were just settling in and had not sold their old home.
When the location manager returned 18 months later, they agreed to turn their home into a movie set.
Beyond its celluloid fame, the 1920s home features a gourmet kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, a sunroom, a dormered attic bedroom and a detached garage and is situated on a half-acre lot not far from Lake Michigan.

So I finally finished Melissa Gilbert's "Prairie Tale" a memoir.
Now you must recall, I picked this up after reading online that Rob Lowe and her dated for six years and he never mentioned her all but like 2 sentences in his book! So I was curious to see how much she wrote about him in her book.
I looked at some of the readers reviews of Prairie Tales on Amazon and it seems like people's issue with this book is how it shatters the image they had of their childhood's hero(es). They didn't want to know all the details about Half Pint's sex life, infidelities and the days of booze and coke during the 80s (and later). I don't know where these people have been all these years, but apparently not reading the tabloids or even People magazine. After all, Melissa Gilbert was engaged and had a very long relationship with Rob Lowe. It should have pointed them in a certain direction.
There wasn't any bashing in her book by any means. I definitely got the gist of their relationship was purely young young love. Melissa and Rob were primarily each others first real love, which Mr. Lowe doesn't really mention in his book.
Both books were good, it was neat to hear her talk about Little House on the Prairie and working with Michael Landon so much. Melissa Gilbert talks (mostly) openly about her family, loves, addictions and plastic surgery. She comes across as very human, flawed and self-aware. It's an interesting journey and a good read for anyone who's "known" her for all these years.

Overall, Rob Lowe's book was more of a page turner, with way more juice and details of all of his encounters with famous people in the business before they made it big.
I got to read lots of details about Tom Cruise and my most fave hunk of hollywood who recently passed away, Patrick Swayze
Patrick and my "love" for the actor would be a another post my friends. He's at the top of my list of fave actors EVER.
Anyway, I highly recommend Rob's Book. And if you are a little house fan, Melissa's book is just as swell!
I picked these beauties up from Ulta Yesterday. It was my first outing in 4 days of not leaving the house! I am not usually one that paints my nails, as I have stated before, teaching art, my nails usually get destroyed. I usually only get french pedis on my toes too, but I took those off and painted the sparkly red color on my toes for X mas. I really love nail polish that has glitter in it! So pretty!
Cali has gotten NON stop rain for days now. Thus, this has been rolling into AZ, making it day 2 of overcast skies and today it sprinkled off and on. BLAH. So I am just cuddled up to a typical Arizonan's version of a winter fire tee hee :)
It's to hot to burn actual firewood so candles in the fireplace work just as swell! :)

His real name of course is Peter Billingsley. And if your like me, I only noticed him a few years back in the movie "the Break Up" starring his really good friend Vince Vaugh. I had no idea he was actually still famous upon watching the Break Up and finding out he produced Couple's Retreat!

What is on your walls in terms of "decor"?
The hubs and I have had one disagreement when it comes to our new house---
PICTURES on the wall.
First of all, I LOVE pictures. I honestly feel they are what makes a home a home.
The hubs feels like we have "too many" and it feels like a "shrine" of "us".
I told him what do you see when you walk into other people's houses? 9 out of 10 times you see photographs!
And Art.
He wants more art and less photos.
UGH.
As an art teacher, I'll be the first to veto knock off reprints of famous paintings. It ain't me.
Not for the decor of my home. I don't care how much I love Monet's waterlilies or Van Gogh's starry night. I don't want it hanging in my family room as our wall art.
So I ask you, what do you have hanging on your walls? Does anyone else have this "Problem" with their significant other?
I will knock myself down here a bit and say my area of concentration in Art was Photography. So I may go a wee bit much with photos. But in all fairness just about every friends house I've ever been in, in every room has framed photos of the people that inhabit that house!

Macaulay Culkin's famous pose of screaming with his hands on his face is reminiscent of the painting "The Scream" by Edvard Munch?
Had to throw this one in there, I talk about this painting in art a lot with my students!
Daniel Stern was reluctant to have the tarantula on his face, and only agreed to do one and one take only of having the spider on his face. He had to remain still and quiet during the take of it for not to scare the spider. His scream, inspired by one from Psycho, was dubbed in afterwards.
The movie that Kevin watches on video tape is not a real film, but footage specially created. It was called "Angels With Filthy Souls" (most likely based on a real life 1938 mobster movie called "Angels With Dirty Faces").
Its imaginary sequel, "Angels With Filthier Souls" appears in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

Old Man Marley was not in the script's early drafts and was added in later when it was realized the story needed an emotional connection. Early drafts ended with a freeze as Kevin remarked that he'd "just hung around."
Old Man Marley is played by actor Roberts Blossom who recently passed away at the age of 85 this past July!
He also freakishly resembles Former President Hayes don't cha think?
The role of Uncle Frank was written with Kelsey Grammar in mind.
On the pictures you found Kevin in the box at the Buzz, supposedly his girl. In fact, in pictures the boy, who was styled as a girl. Chris Columbus thought that making fun of a girl in such a way – not good.
The concept of the movie Home Alone was born thanks to a scene from the movie “Uncle Buck”starring Culkin which Miles (Macaulay Culkin) interrogates a would-be-babysitter through a letterbox.
The Home Alone house is currently for sale! (Anyone have 2.4 billion dollars to buy it?)
