My after school kiddos have been creating these gorgeous scarecrows completely made out of oil pastels. They are ready for fall!
My 6th graders have been covering Egypt for a month. Here is the outcome of their projects. Excitingly enough the 6th grade team really digs em! This lesson was the first time my kiddos got to experience printmaking with rollers and brayers. They carved their names in hyroglifics as the background behind the pharaoh they chose to draw.
My 4th graders are just now finishing up their take on Edward Munch's "The Scream". These turned out so bright and colorful!
I finally finished "Sharp Objects" by Gillian Flynn.
It took me a while since I've been working so much and getting home super late at night my eyes have just said NO READING GO TO BED!
And that usually ends that, I mean who can argue with sleep!?
What Goodreads said about the book:
"WICKED above her hipbone, GIRL across her heart Words are like a road map to reporter Camille Preaker’s troubled past. Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, Camille’s first assignment from the second-rate daily paper where she works brings her reluctantly back to her hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls." *synopsis taken from Goodreads
I really liked "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn, which sparked me to pick up her other 2 books.
Sharp Objects, in my opinion, was rather boring and I knew right away who the murder was half way through the book! With that being said, I ended up feeling bored with the novel!
Hopefully Dark Places, her other book is more enthralling captivating to read!
Anyone else read this particular book by her and feel like I did?
It's been MONTHS since I've been to the movie theater to see a movie. I cannot even recall the last thing I saw in the theater, much less the last movie I even reviewed on blogger!
Anyone see "CLOUD ATLAS?"
last night the hubs and I saw it.
It took every ounce in me endure the 3 hour movie.
It was way to long, and very very boring.
For anyone that has seen the movie "Crash," this movie has a similar story line.
"An exploration of how the actions of individual lives impact one another in the past, present and future, as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and an act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution."
Cept Crash was way better than this movie that's for sure.
SKIP IT!
Next time I think I'll let the husband pick the movie!
I must say, they showed the movie trailer for this movie, and started to bawl like a baby
y'all if a six min movie trailer can make you cry in that amount of time, you know this movie is going to be good!
I first caught whim of this whirling trend on these two bloggers
Danielle via ShopDandy
and Emily via Life With Emily
Both bloggers are on instagram and wear their monograms I'd say daily!
I asked both (long while back)
where each purchased their necklaces from.
I think Danielle said her's was from Max and Chloe' but I ended up going with Emily's purchase via Etsy seller since the seller was way more affordable there.
Emily wears a longer chain on her necklace than I do. I opted for the 16' chain because all my necklaces fall on me there!
I am a Republican. I don't hide my political affiliation, and am not afraid to say that I am scared and worried for the future of America now that Obama has been re elected. I hate that we are a world full of Godless souls. People don't have faith they don't believe, and that frightens me tremendously.
The quote above I posted on FB last night got tons of comments and likes. I feel like it just really sums up how I feel about the next four years...
I just LOVE watching this award show. It's the only award show I enjoy watching! The others are often long, distasteful and NOT funny in a non offending way.
Brad and Carrie are just so great together. They keep it classy.
Even if they have to do a little diddy of the new Korean rage
ganham style! LOL
There were so many performers that are like super mega country stars!
Faith Hill made an appearance/performance.
Does this woman age at all?
And I LOVED Kelly Clarkson and Vince Gill's duet.
Vince should get an award for how often he does duets.
Y'all recall him helping Carrie sing How Great Thou Art?
Or Helping Gwen Paltrow sing Country Strong?
Wish his wife, Amy Grant, would make more appearances out with him! I loved her music as a kid!
If you missed the new song by Kelly, here's the video it's really good! She needs to make more songs/tunes like this one!
And I loved this performance by Little Big Town.
I will admit, when I heard Pontoon for the first time, I really despised the song. It took some time for it to grow on me!
The CMAS just is such a classy award show. They don't feel like they "compete" against each other for awards, and are genuinely happy for the other person in their category when they win.
Case in point, Miranda Lambert beating out Kelly C, Carrie, Martina,Taylor for female vocalist of the year she took the time to actually say nice genuine things about the people she was up against. I just thought that was so great of her!
My After School Academy art class made Day of The Dead flower pots with painted skulls on them. The one that says Aryam is actually my teacher example, I just gave the pot to her for helping me with the younger kids!
My famous scream pictures. Taught this one last year too.
Kinder's Cut Shape cats!
Sixth grade is making an Egyptian Pharaoh/God of their choice
These are still currently being created..
Crayon resist pumpkin paintings
ASA Art class
1st Grade Candy Corn Men!
Life has been hectic with working two jobs. Trying to keep up.
