Art Wall

This is probably the coolest art wall I have seen. I love the black background giving it form and structure. The frames and items are just similar enough – and different enough – to make it interesting while still keeping it together. Perfection

Guest Post: Mister Wonderful's FitnessLinkUp

Greetings fellow bloggers!  Mister Wonderful here ;-)  Hope everyone is doing fantastic out there today.  Just wanted to take a minute to share a project I've been working on for awhile now.  It's called FitnessLinkUp.com

Many of you may know that I have a degree in Exercise Science, and am also a registered nurse.  It would be an understatement to say I take health and wellness seriously.  Working in a hospital makes you realize you shouldn't take your health for granted.  After all, what is more important than your health?  It's one of the few things money can't buy.

But I digress...One of the frequent complaints I hear from people about getting in shape is that they have no one to workout with, no one to push them...etc.  I can appreciate this because I definitely find myself "going through the motions", or struggle with getting motivated when I know I'm on my own.  With FitnessLinkUp.com, you can create workouts, invite friends, or search your local area for new training partners.  Whether you're training for a competition like a half-marathon, or just want to fing a gym buddy...you can find it all at FitnessLinkUp.com.

I've created a tutorial on the frontpage to show some features of the website and how it works.  I would love to get some feedback from you.

Also, if any of you have fitness related questions, there is a forum section on the website. Please ask away, and I will do my best to provide you with an answer ASAP.  If you would like to see more/different forum topics, just let me know.

It's all here @ FitnessLinkUp.com

P.S. Please "like" me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter (All available from the front page)

I'm Loving It Wednesday

What I'm loving this Wednesday...

I am loving...

That on Sunday, Mister Wonderful was able to Pre-order us both the new I Phone 4S (which I heard on the radio today they are calling the 4S For-Steve.)

I am really amped to finally get an I Phone and so happy Sprint jumped on board!
both Mister Wonderful & I picked the white one.

Now don't get me wrong, I have loved and DO love my HTC EVO. Great great great phone. But I've always been a Mac girl. I've owned 3 I pods, and my Macbook runs like the day I bought it 3 yrs ago! I had apple TV 2 yrs ago too!

I am loving this case I ordered for this new expensive phone purchase!
Not my initials but you get the idea till mine comes!
You can visit the Etsy Seller here!

So fellow I Phone users, what Apps do y'all recommend? which ones are Free and which ones cost?
I'm new to this and would love to know the Must haves. I'm not a gamer...so I'm not into the whole Angry Birds or Words with Friends craze.

I am loving that yesterday on my way home from work I picked up Nicholas Sparks new book!!!

Although I have to finish "The First Husband" which I just started reading last week...rats! Ah well. Something to look forward to!

I am loving all my Halloweenie art that my students have completed!

Take a looksie!

6th: Skeletons
Boy did they wine and complain about this lesson and how "hard" it was to draw the bones realistically. Serves them right. so over all the "symbol" skulls stuff and on to teaching them to draw Realistically!!

Tail Wagging Tuesday Vol 12

Does anyone else's fur children/child do random strange things?

Like this??
LOL

Yeah she's totally sleeping upright  inside our  blinds so she can sniff the breeze through the screen.

Weird I know.

Next Tail Wagging Tuesday Linkup will be the day AFTER Halloween so be sure to snap a few pics of your fur babies in their halloween get ups!

Painted Glass Jars

Since I teach art, and store a ton of things in glass jars in my classroom, these definitely caught my eye!

The project was pretty straight-forward and simple, it took mostly patience. What you need is:

  • paint
  • glass jars
  • lids
  • old newspapers (to cover the working surface)
  • spray paint (optional)
We have a large(ish) collection of jam and jalopeno jars from which it was easy to choose matching jars. The paint should be thick enough so it’ll stick to glass, but not too thick. I usedUula Into in different colors. The yellow Into was too thick, I should have diluted it with water (Uula Into is water-thinnable). The others were fine.

And this is what you do. Clean and dry the jar thoroughly. Pour in some paint.

Swirl and shake. Twist and turn. It helps if you close the lid, that way you don’t get paint all over.
Pour the most excess paint back in the paint can.
Leave the jar upside down to drip (lid on!) I left mine overnight.
Pour out the remaining excess paint.
This is what happens when your paint is too thick. It stays like that. You

can try to wipe it, but be careful not to remove too much. You don’t want clear glass to show.

Wipe the rim clean before the paint dries. If the paint does dry, you may need to scratch it with your finger nails. Leave the jar to dry. This will take quite long. Normally Uula Into dries in 2 hours, but now it took 2-3 days.

Now you have a pretty place to stuff your pens and pencils (for example). I’m happy because the jars have freed up more space on my drawing table AND they look nice.

Sunday Tune

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol’ way
And who shall wear the starry crown?
Good Lord show me the way

O sinners, let’s go down
Let’s go down, come on down
O sinners, let’s go down
Down in the river to pray
Alison Krauss

I simply LOVE this song. Such a feel good song.

What's been cooking in the art room

3rd Grader's are currently making their Witch legs. They aren't done yet, so be sure to check back for the finished product!

1st grade made spiders all in one 45 min class. They were a hoot and quite the "talk" of school that day! My students LOVED that they got to walk their spider back to class and around school!
