Childhood nostalgia on a shelf
..:::SIGH:::..
I miss this absurd, under-qualified, well-dressed, motley crew of ladies. These books made me feel grown up when I read them in 3rd grade, and I retained way to much information from them. Literally couldn’t tell you anything about the classes I took in college, but I could tell you the Rodowsky boys’ names. Archie, Jackie (wALKiNg DiSaStEr, ammiright?), and Shea.
Ah the Babysitters Club the movie was a fave of mine too! Rachel Leigh Cook played Mary Anne and The girl from the TV Show Alex Mac or the girl that played Bianca in Ten Things I hate about you played Dawn in the movie. The boy in the back with the light hair was on that show called Promise Land.
Man where have all the classics (for TV) gone?
This brought a smile to my face today. I was SUCH a huge fan of these books! I was like obsessed. Every time we would go to the mall, my parents would buy me a new book. I would literally not put it down until I was finished reading it. Part of me wants to go find all of these books so I can re-read them. :)
ReplyDeleteI have seen that babysitter club movie like 1300 times... seriously.
ReplyDeleteI read a bunch of those books too. How do they not have "CLASSIC" stamped on the front of them in big, bold letters?! I mean come on
HAHAHA this post made me laugh out loud. I used to LOVE the Babysitters Club.
ReplyDeleteI was just talking about this Saturday with Dustin when we found some Babysitters Club books at antique shop.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the Babysitters Club. They sure don't write books like that anymore. Nice post! :)

ReplyDeleteI LOVED these books and spent many a night with a flashlight reading in bed well past my bedtime! My daughter has now confiscated my collection from my parents house and we have just begun reading them together ~ Almost finished with book 1. Kristy's big idea :) Its so fun reading them with her ~ kind of like being transported back in time.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you. I can open one up now (I teach elementary school) ... and read one chapter, and I swear it's like I'm transported back to my own 3rd grade days ... I can imagine my classmates, riding the bus, things I did on the weekends at that age ... it's like a time machine. Good stuff! What will today's third grade girls remember, I shudder to think ... ?

ReplyDeletelove, love, LOVE!!! I read all the books, watched the movies and obsessed over BSC!
